· Get organized! Work on organization skills and good study habits to insure a smooth transition.
· Remember that independence, responsibility, and taking the initiative are key to success in high school.
· Review your math notebook to keep your skills sharp.
· Use your summer reading to improve vocabulary, writing, and note taking skills.
· Be prepared to work hard to build a strong transcript.
· Visit three college campuses.
Fall
· Attend High School Open House.
· Meet with your counselor to discuss the high school’s curriculum and opportunities.
· Get involved! Participation in extracurricular activities is not only rewarding but will help build a strong portfolio.
Winter
· Using the advice of your Guidance Counselor to choose challenging coursework for your sophomore year.
Spring
· Register for SAT II subject tests if appropriate.
· Review the “Summer Opportunities” bulletin to locate enrichment or employment opportunities for the summer.
