Grade 6-8 Science Curriculum at a Glance +

The middle school Technology Education program engages 7th and 8th grade students in dynamic, hands-on, project-based learning that develops creativity, critical thinking, and engineering design skills. Through authentic design challenges, students apply STEM concepts to real-world problems while using the engineering design process to identify problems, develop innovative solutions, and evaluate their work. Designed around interactive design and construction experiences, the curriculum provides a safe, structured environment where students explore current technologies and modern-day issues through woodworking, manufacturing, engineering design, and technology-based projects. Students also have opportunities to participate in engineering competitions, including the Brookhaven National Laboratory Maglev Competition. Throughout the program, students build technical skills, collaborate with peers, and develop the confidence and problem-solving abilities needed for future STEM learning and career opportunities.
