Mr. Louis Balsamo
Mr. Louis Balsamo began his career in Bay Shore in September of 1998 as a Guidance Counselor. After five years of working in the Guidance Office, Mr. Balsamo became Assistant Principal of the High School where he proudly served for two years. Since returning to Guidance in the Fall of 2005, Mr. Balsamo has just started his 19 th year as the Director of Guidance in Bay Shore. Prior to joining the Bay Shore staff, Mr. Balsamo worked for seven years at Monsignor McClancy High School in East Elmhust, Queens. While at McClancy, Mr. Balsamo taught Earth Science and Math, spent five years as the Director of College Guidance, and was Summer School Principal for three years. Prior to becoming an Administrator, Mr. Balsamo was involved in multiple after-school activities in both Bay Shore and at McClancy, including Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach, Newspaper Editor, National Honor Society Advisor and PM School Counselor.
Mr. Balsamo received both his Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees from St. John’s University and his Certificate of Advanced Studies and Professional Diploma as a School District Administrator from Long Island University/C.W. Post Campus.
Mr. Balsamo believes so much in the quality of education within the Bay Shore Schools, that he and his wife Maria moved their family here in 2011 so that all three of his children could graduate from Bay Shore High School. Stephen(’17), Perry(’20) and Diana(currently a Sophomore at Bay Shore High School) are all proud Marauders. Mr. Balsamo passionately believes in giving opportunities to all students, but is particularly proud of the incredible opportunities provided by the Bay Shore School District. He feels very lucky and fortunate to be part of the Bay Shore Community.
