Ms. Sonia MontalvoMs. Montalvo embarked on her education career in 2011 as a 7-12 mathematics teacher in the Westbury School District. In 2013, she joined the William Floyd School District, where she specialized in teaching math to both ENL (English as a New Language) students and those benefiting from targeted academic interventions. Her leadership experience grew as an assistant principal, focusing on developing a bilingual sheltered instructional ENL program, conducting parent engagement workshops, improving student attendance, and creating an at-risk program to boost academic achievement and graduation among ENL students.

Before her career in education, Ms. Montalvo worked in the private sector. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from New York University, a Master of Science in Secondary Education from Molloy University, and an SBL/SDL certificate from the former College of Saint Rose.

A native Spanish speaker, Ms. Montalvo excels at collaborating with administration and building strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, and communities. She possesses deep expertise in the academic, social, and emotional needs of English Language Learners (ELLs) and effective world language instruction.
