Water Safety - Education Law Section 926


Water Safety Information for Families


Effective July 1, 2026 – In accordance with New York State Education Law Section 926, the Bay Shore School District is providing information to our community regarding:

  • Drowning prevention

  • Water safety

  • Safe and healthy swimming practices

 

When this information is shared

At the beginning of each school year, the District will provide this information to all parents and guardians. Families of students who enroll after the start of the school year, as well as students aged 18 or older, will receive this information directly upon enrollment. This information will also be posted on this page throughout the school year, as required by law.

Translation Requests

Families may request this information translated into one of New York State's 12 most commonly spoken non-English languages. To request a translation, please contact the Main Office at your child’s school.
